Don has served as Sign Language Interpreter for Turtle Creek Chorale for over 20 years. Mr. Jones earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Music from the University of Oklahoma. It was at OU that he had his first exposure to sign language interpretation. After answering an ad in the student newspaper for “a tutor for a hearing impaired student,” Jones soon found himself taking Sign Language classes, interpreting for a deaf-blind art major at the university, and teaching that student Sign Language.
Upon graduation, Jones moved to New Orleans, where he taught in the Program for the Deaf at Delgado Junior College. He attended graduate school at Southern Methodist University, where he received a Master’s Degree in Deaf Education. Since then, he has been a teacher in the Dallas area, primarily in private schools, specializing in the teaching of Reading and Technology. In addition to interpretation for TCC, Mr. Jones interprets for the Catholic Diocese of Dallas.
