TCC Showcases American and British Composers in Upcoming Concerts

DALLAS, May 1, 2014—Turtle Creek Chorale (TCC), Dallas’ premier male chorus, announces two performances celebrating the music of British and American composers.

TCC will perform “Americana” on May 3 and 4 in partnership with the SoCo Women’s Chorus in Austin, conducted by Janey Hall. Each group will perform a set of songs by American composers and then join together for three contemporary American pieces. The concerts will be held on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. and on May 4 at 3:00 p.m. at King-Seabrook Chapel on the campus of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at

Artistic director Trey Jacobs says “It was such a joy to unite with this Austin chorus for ourRemembering JFK Concert in November. I found the women in this chorus to be enthusiastic and committed to making extraordinary music. It will be wonderful collaborating in Austin on choral music by American composers.”

Then, TCC presents its Chamber Chorus and small ensemble Camerata in “Homeland…A Choral Journey from Britannia to Americana,” a concert of the choral music of British and American composers. The Chamber Chorus is a 28-singer ensemble, co-conducted by artistic director Trey Jacobs and associate conductor Sean Baugh, which performs several additional concerts each year. Camerata is a 9-singer ensemble in the style of the acclaimed British a cappella group, The King’s Singers, conducted by TCC pianist Scott Ayers.

Baugh says, “This incredible concert with both the Turtle Creek Chorale’s Chamber Chorus and Camerata truly features some of the most beautiful music of the season. From the podium, the music just takes my breath away when we sing, so I can only imagine what the audience must experience.”

Song selections include pieces by the Beatles, Billy Joel, Thomas Tallis, Kurt Bestor, Gustav Holt and Z. Randall Stroope. The concert will be held on May 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas. There is a $10 suggested donation for admission.
